Malta-based gaming affiliate Game Lounge has recently made some changes to its workforce by implementing a new employment strategy and letting go up to 20 freelancers, remote workers and self-employed consultants, it was reported. A number of staff have changed their status on LinkedIn to indicate that they were free to work. It is reported that some employees are working their notice period.
Jonas Cederholm, CEO and co-founder of Game Lounge, was quoted on certain news sites with giving an insight into the company’s perspective on these changes. He said, “We made these decisions with the company’s long-term vision in mind, always recognizing the significant contributions of those we’ve had to part ways with.”
Strategic changes to streamline workforce
The company’s strategic human resource decision has resulted in a number of workforce adjustments. The first redundancies are reported to have been made in July. The company’s proactive move primarily impacted its content division, signaling a substantial transformation in its long-term approach.The first wave of workforce adjustments were made in July, and to ensure a smooth transition, the company gradually made more redundancies to ensure a mimimal disruption.
The second round of workforce streamlining took place in the company’s Malta-based office, again resulting in a number of employees updating their LinkedIn profiles to “Open To Work”.
In some cases, redundant employees relinquished their duties before their official termination date due to project or brand assigments no longer requiring their presence or input.
Restructure of signficant acquisition
It has also been reported that Game Lounge will restructure the firm’s Slot Tracker tool. This was one of Game Lounge’s signficiant acquisitions in 2018 for €1 million.
CEO Cederholm is quoted in the press as saying that this was the comapny’s strategic adaptation to aligh with specific market dynamics. He added,”This change aims to improve our responsiveness to local needs, strengthen our partnerships, and create brands that genuinely connect with users. With this change in direction, there have been adjustments to our content team.”
Cederholm expressed optimism about the future and the company’s transformative steps, adding, “We are shaping a stable, forward-looking organization focused on sustained success.”
Game Lounge, with its main offices in Marbella and Malta, maintains a global workforce, reflecting its commitment to evolving within the dynamic gaming sector.
